Not sure? Choose the closest option — your coordinator will suggest alternatives if another mode is cheaper or faster.

Delivery terms (Incoterm)

The Incoterm on your purchase or sales contract decides which costs and risks are yours. It helps us quote the right part of the journey.

Incoterms® 2020 rules decide who pays for each part of the journey and when the risk passes to the buyer. If your supplier gave you a price, it usually names one — for example “FOB Shanghai”.

Questions about quotes

Straight answers about how we price and what to expect.

How quickly will I get a quote?

A coordinator replies within 4 business hours (Monday to Friday, Dubai time). Requests with special equipment, dangerous goods or unusual routes can take longer because we confirm space and rules with carriers first — we will tell you when to expect the full price.

Do I need exact weights or an HS code to request a quote?

No. Approximate weight and volume are enough for a first quote, and the HS code is optional. The more precise the details, the more precise the price — we confirm the final figures with you before booking.

What does a Nil Ocean quote include?

Each quote lists every charge line and marks it as included, not included, estimate or at cost, with the currency, the validity date and the free days at destination. Charges that depend on the authorities or on waiting time are named up front, so nothing appears later without an explanation.

Can I request a quote for any route?

We specialise in routes between China, the UAE, Iraq, the GCC and East Africa, and quote other destinations on request. Lanes that are suspended — for example because of a government trade halt — cannot be requested; the Lane Status page shows the current position of each lane.

What if the price changes after I accept?

The price we quote is the price you pay unless you approve a change. If a carrier or an authority adds a charge, we show it in your case file with the reason and evidence, and you approve or dispute it before it is billed.

What happens to the details I send?

We use them only to answer your request and, if you go ahead, to run your shipment. Attachments are stored privately and only our staff can open them. You can ask us to correct or delete your data at any time — see the Privacy Notice.
