Draft — subject to legal review
This text is a working draft and may change before final publication. If anything is unclear, please contact us.
Who are we and what do these terms cover?
These terms govern the use of the Nil Ocean Shipping website and customer portal, operated by NIL OCEAN SHIPPING L.L.C, Dubai (trade licence 1104515).
- The website means our public pages, guides, country guides, glossary, tools, quote and contact forms and the public tracking page.
- The portal means the secure area where customers follow their case files, documents, costs and tickets.
By using the website or the portal you accept these terms. The transport and logistics services themselves are governed by the quotation you accept and the trading conditions it refers to, together with the terms of the carriers and other providers involved. If these terms conflict with those documents, the quotation and trading conditions prevail for the services.
Is the information on the website advice?
No. Our guides, country guides, glossary, tools and transit-time ranges are general information that can change and must be confirmed for your shipment.
- Transit times, free days and costs are typical ranges that vary by carrier, season and route.
- Calculators (for example CBM and demurrage) give estimates only.
- Customs, sanctions and product rules change often; check the official sources we link to. Nothing on the website is legal, tax or customs advice.
Is a quote request on the website a binding offer?
No. A request sent through the website or WhatsApp is an enquiry; a quotation binds us only when we issue it in writing with its validity, inclusions and exclusions, and you accept it.
After acceptance, the price we quote is the price you pay for the listed items unless you approve a change. If a charge outside the accepted quotation arises, for example storage, demurrage or an inspection, we add it to your case file with the reason and a supporting document, and you can approve or dispute it before we invoice it.
How do portal accounts work?
Our team creates portal accounts for customers; there is no public sign-up.
- We create your account after your first shipment request and send a temporary password by WhatsApp or email from our official channels.
- You must change the temporary password the first time you sign in, and keep your sign-in details confidential.
- Each user acts on behalf of their company. Tell us promptly when a colleague leaves or when you suspect misuse, so that we can deactivate the account.
- We may suspend access to protect security, prevent misuse or comply with the law.
What are you responsible for when you share information or documents?
You are responsible for the information and documents you give us being accurate, complete and lawful.
- Describe goods accurately, with the HS code, value, origin and the real shipper, consignee and end user.
- Share other people’s personal data (for example consignee contacts) only when you are entitled to do so.
- Do not upload files containing malware or content you have no right to share.
Inaccurate or late information can cause delays, extra charges, penalties or refusal of the shipment; how such costs are allocated is set out in your quotation and trading conditions.
How accurate are tracking updates and ETAs?
Tracking updates are entered by our operations team; they are not received in real time.
They are based on information from carriers, terminals, partners and authorities. ETAs are estimates shown with a confidence level, and carriers can change schedules without notice. Each update shows who made it and when.
What are you not allowed to do?
You may not use the website or the portal in a way that harms us, our customers or anyone else.
- try to access accounts, data or systems you are not authorised to use, or test our security without written permission;
- collect data from the website by automated means at a scale that burdens it, except search engines and AI crawlers that respect our robots.txt;
- impersonate Nil Ocean, our staff or our customers, or use our name to request payments;
- upload unlawful, fraudulent or infringing content;
- use our services for sanctioned parties or destinations, or for prohibited goods (see our Compliance & Sanctions Policy and restricted goods guidance).
Who owns the website content?
The text, design, logo and software are owned by NIL OCEAN SHIPPING L.L.C or used under licence.
You may link to our pages and quote short extracts with a clear reference to the source. You may not use our name or logo in a way that suggests a partnership or endorsement we have not agreed in writing. Photographs on the website are licensed images and do not show our own facilities unless stated.
How do payments and bank details work?
Our official bank details are shown only inside the portal, and we never change them by WhatsApp, email or phone.
Before any payment, check the bank details in your portal. If you receive a message asking you to pay into new or different bank details, do not pay; check Verify Nil Ocean and contact your coordinator through the portal.
What is our liability for the website and portal?
We operate the website and the portal with reasonable care, but we cannot promise they will always be available or free of errors.
To the extent permitted by UAE law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the website or the portal, or from their temporary unavailability. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Our liability for cargo and transport services is governed by your quotation, our trading conditions, the carriers’ terms and the applicable international conventions, not by these terms.
Which law applies?
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Dubai, and the courts of Dubai have jurisdiction, unless a different forum is agreed in writing.
Which language version applies?
These terms are published in English, Arabic and Persian. If the versions differ, the English version prevails, unless UAE law requires otherwise.
How will we update these terms, and how can you contact us?
We may update these terms and will publish changes on this page with a new “last updated” date. For questions, email info@niloceanshipping.com or use our contact page. How we use personal data is explained in our Privacy Notice.
