These are the same stages you will see in your case file in the customer portal.
We check the goods, volumes, storage period, customs status and the next leg.
You approve the partner facility, storage rates and handling charges.
Invoice, packing list and arrival details are shared with the warehouse in advance.
The goods are counted and checked, and the warehouse receipt is posted to your case file.
Labelling, repacking or consolidation is done as instructed, with stock updates.
Goods are released for local delivery, trucking or re-export and the file is closed.
Your quote itemises every charge, so you can see exactly what is covered before you approve it.
We coordinate storage and handling in Dubai through licensed partner warehouses, and we confirm the facility, its licence scope and the rates for each case before your goods arrive.
Most customers use storage as part of a shipment rather than as long-term stock: holding goods until payment or permits are ready, combining several suppliers into one load, or waiting for the next onward sailing or truck. Nil Ocean Shipping does not operate its own warehouse; we choose a partner facility that fits your cargo, agree the terms in writing and stay your single point of contact.
Choose free zone storage when goods will be re-exported, and mainland storage when they are sold in the UAE and already cleared.
| Free zone (for example JAFZA) | Dubai mainland | |
|---|---|---|
| Customs status | Duty suspended while goods stay under customs control | Goods cleared, duty and VAT paid |
| Best for | Re-export to Iraq, the GCC or East Africa; consolidation | Local distribution and sales in the UAE |
| Leaving the warehouse | Re-export declaration, or import declaration if sold locally | Local delivery note |
| Duty on release to the UAE | Generally 5% of CIF value plus 5% VAT | Already paid |
Duty and free zone rules are set by Dubai Customs and the free zone authority, such as JAFZA; we confirm the treatment for your goods with the licensed broker.
The warehouse receives, counts and checks the goods against your packing list, and we post the warehouse receipt to your case file the same day it is issued.
If the count, marks or condition differ from the documents, we tell you before anything else happens, with the warehouse's notes and photos where the partner provides them. That way shortages or damage are recorded at receipt, when a claim against the carrier or supplier is still possible.
Standard handling covers what most importers and re-exporters need between two shipments.
Temperature-controlled storage and dangerous goods are possible only where a partner facility is licensed for them, so tell us early.
Storage is usually charged per pallet or per cubic metre for each day or week, plus handling in and handling out, and every line appears separately on your quote.
Ask for the minimum charge, the free days if any, and the rates for extra services such as labelling or repacking before the goods arrive. We record the agreed rates on your cost sheet, so a later invoice can be checked against them line by line.
The warehouse operator's terms and liability limits apply while goods are in its custody, and these limits are usually far below the value of the goods.
We share the partner's key terms with you before storage starts and recommend cargo insurance that covers the storage period. See our compliance policy for goods we cannot store.
Because we coordinate both, your stock can move from the warehouse to the next transport leg without a new provider or a new file.
From Dubai, goods can go by truck to Saudi Arabia, Oman and the rest of the GCC, by feeder or RoRo to Iraq, or by sea to Mombasa, Dar es Salaam and Djibouti; see transit and re-export.
A typical checklist. Your coordinator confirms the exact list for your cargo and destination, and you upload everything in the portal.
Every shipment is screened against applicable sanctions lists and checked for restricted or prohibited goods before booking. Some routes and commodities need extra documents or cannot be accepted.

Answers to the questions customers ask most about Warehousing in Jebel Ali and Dubai.
No. We coordinate storage through licensed partner warehouses in Jebel Ali and Dubai, choose the facility that fits your cargo and agree the terms in writing. We remain your single contact for the whole case.
Yes, in a free zone such as JAFZA, as long as the goods stay under customs control. Duty and VAT become payable only if the goods are released to the UAE market; if they are re-exported, UAE duty generally does not apply.
Usually per pallet or per cubic metre for each day or week, plus handling in and handling out. Extra services such as labelling or repacking are charged separately; we list every line on your quote.
Yes. The partner warehouse receives each supplier's goods, we check them against your order and they are combined into one shipment for local delivery, GCC trucking or re-export.
Only where a partner facility is licensed and has space for temperature-controlled cargo. Tell us the temperature range and the storage period early so we can confirm availability.
Not automatically. The warehouse operator's liability is limited under its terms, so we recommend cargo insurance that covers the storage period and can arrange a quote on request.
Next step
Send your route and cargo details. A named coordinator replies with an itemised quote and the next steps.
Nil Ocean Shipping coordinates warehousing in Dubai through licensed partner facilities, in Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) for duty-suspended storage and re-export, or on the mainland for duty-paid stock. We arrange receiving, counting, storage, labelling, repacking and consolidation, post the warehouse receipt and stock updates to your case file, and connect storage to the next leg: local delivery, GCC trucking or re-export to Iraq and East Africa.
LCL is usually cheaper for small shipments because you pay per cubic metre; FCL becomes cheaper once your cargo fills a large part of a container. For many importers the break-even sits somewhere around 12–18 CBM for a 20ft, but it moves with rates and destination LCL fees. Compare landed cost, not freight alone, and weigh transit time, handling and risk.
